X Window System and MOTIF Programming
Duration : 5 Days
Course Code : DG-X1
This training is targeted primarily at those working (or planning to work) on GUI projects that use
the X/MOTIF libraries on the Linux/Unix software environment. This includes technical leads,
software developers, maintenance/enhancement project developers, testers (as well as any other
stakeholder that deems the knowledge gain useful).
This training starts with a fairly detailed architectural view and window system concepts of the X
Window System. It then delves into the programming of GUIs using all three layers of X, namely,
the X Library (Xlib), the X toolkit (Xt) and MOTIF. The widget classes, resource management,
toolkit intrinsics, etc. are described in detail. The MOTIF UIL/MRM programming layer is also
covered. Several well thought-out assignments and case studies help the participant gain a deeper
understanding of concepts and new tools/APIs provided.
Throughout, professional / industry best practices are taught and encouraged.
Prerequisites:

Scripting (DG-L0) training or have the equivalent knowledge/skill sets.
